Peter Hammond faced an overflowing crowd at the Norway Historical Society when he discussed “Ice Harvesting – The Frozen Water Trade.” He covered the history of local ice cutting and its economic impact on the community. Pat Pulkkinen brought her visiting grandchildren to learn about the industry because “ my father did this.” The society’s original ice cutting tools used on Norway Lake were on exhibit. Hammond used old photos and historic films in his talk. Refreshments were served after the program.
