FARMINGTON — Selectmen gave permission Tuesday to businessman John Moore to hang banners on utility poles downtown for the Pumpkin Festival on Oct. 4 on Front Street, Town Manager Richard Davis said Wednesday.
The town has a pole-attachment agreement, which includes $1 million of liability insurance, with Central Maine Power Co. and FairPoint Communications, he said.
Moore received an email from Margaret B. Cummings of CMP saying Farmington does have an agreement in place. However, she wrote that CMP will need a new agreement with a $5 million insurance requirement going forward.
Davis said unless the town hears otherwise, it believes the current agreement would allow the banners.
