1926 – 2014

LEWISTON — Rita T. Karkos, 88, of Lisbon Falls, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 26, at d’Youville Pavilion.

She was born in Lewiston on March 1, 1926, the daughter of the late Wilfred and Georgianna (Dumais) Drouin. She grew up in the Lisbon area and attended local school there. After high school, she went to ACME Business College and received a business degree. Later, she worked as an office manager for Bonafide, American Built Right, Lisbon Vinyldine, Sport-Tread and last, Miller Hydro, before her retirement.

Rita loved gardening and her cats. She also enjoyed spending time with her family at their camp in Lakeview Plantation.

Rita is survived by her daughter, Carol A. Plourde and her husband, Michael, of Lisbon Falls; and her grandchildren, Jesse Plourde of South Lake Tahoe, Calif., and Angela Plourde of Lisbon Falls.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, James Karkos, in 1994.
