1932 – 2014

FARMINGTON — Betty Marie Elliott passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center, with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Farmington on June 25, 1932, a daughter of Ralph Cook and Myrna Dunham Gould and her adopted parents, Roy and Murdis Cook. She lived most of her life in Strong and attended local schools.

She married Robert Elliott on Dec. 22, 1950.

In her early years, Betty worked at Forster Manufacturing in Strong and Diamond Match in Phillips. Later on, with her husband, she owned and operated a boarding home for the elderly. She was a devoted caregiver to her children, grandchildren and to many members of her immediate family. Throughout her life, she was always taking care of someone.

Betty enjoyed crocheting, knitting and spending time with her family.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to her friends and the staff at Edgewood Rehabilitation and Living Center and Beacon Hospice for the comfort and excellent care she received.

Betty is survived by three sons, Ron Elliott and wife, Meridell, of Strong, Albert Elliott and Sandy of Wilton and James Elliott and wife, Kim, of Strong; two daughters, Barbara Blake and husband, Dennis, of Freeman and Cheryl Elliott and Lincoln of Dixfield; nine grandchildren, Rob, Scott, Nate, Al Jr., Madeena, Elliott, Maggie, Ryan and Tyler; several great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lillian Tawney of Wilton and Cheryl Ann Leavitt of Gray.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Elliott; her twin sister, Barbara; and three brothers, Bud Cook, Silas Cook and Everett Cook.
