1934 – 2014
FARMINGTON — Earl Clayton Davis Jr., 80, of Highland Terrace in Mexico, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, at the Sandy River Center.
He was born in Mexico on May 9, 1934, a son of Earl Clayton and Lena Etta (Carver) Davis Sr., and graduated from Mexico High School. For many years, Clayton worked as a mechanic for both the Maine Department of Transportation and Morrison Motors.
He enjoyed woodworking, working in his garden, his tractor, tinkering with motors and socializing. He was a member of Walton Lodge No. 142 Knights of Pythias and Purity Rebekah Lodge No. 56 Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Clayton was a volunteer fireman for the town of Mexico and served on the sewer committee for the town of Mexico.
He was married in Dixfield on Dec. 8, 1956, to Ruth M. Walton; she died July 16, 1998.
Survivors include a son, Ricky Davis, of Dixfield; two daughters, Gail Revane and husband, Donald, of Washington, N.H., and Brenda McHugh and husband, James, of Mexico; a granddaughter, Lydia McHugh, of Mexico; nieces, Charlene Pidacks of Dixfield and Darlene Damon of Mexico; great-nieces, Tiffany and Amanda; and a brother-in-law, Lewis Damon, of Mexico.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth; and a sister, Charlotte Damon.
