LEWISTON — Kathleen M. Kilgore, 87, a 58-year resident of 7 Northern Ave., Auburn, died Friday, Aug. 29, after a very sudden illness, at Central Maine Medical Center.
She was born in South Paris on May 30, 1927, a daughter of the late Ralph and Minnie (Hill) Kilgore. She was educated in the Norway School System, graduating from high school. Kathleen was an active member of the Women Marines Association, traveling most of the United States for conferences. She was a devoted fan of the Auburn Community Band, attending every concert on Wednesday nights. She devoted her last years to helping care for her elder sister in North Yarmouth.
Though she had no children of her own, she was very active in her nieces’ and nephews’ lives.
She leaves a sister, Esther Mitchell, of North Yarmouth; a brother, Gordon Kilgore, of North Yarmouth; many nieces and nephews whom she adored; her landlords, the Nason family, who were like family to her; and several friends and neighbors on Northern Avenue.
