Book sale, breakfast, boutique

WAYNE — A book sale, breakfast and boutique as part of First Saturday will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Williams House, 17 Old Winthrop Road.

Coffee, tea, scones and quiche will be for sale to benefit the Williams House. Shop at the ongoing book sale and boutique, and visit with friends and neighbors. Bring your laptop; wi-fi is available.

Set dancing classes to start

AUBURN — Set dancing classes at Edward Little High School will begin Monday, Sept. 8, and be held every Monday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in room 102.

Sets such as “Port McGee,” “Lancers,” “North Kerry” and “Cashel” will be taught. Set dancing originated in Ireland, but has become popular worldwide for everyone from teens to seniors.

American Legion Post 210 meeting

LEWISTON — The next meeting for American Legion Post 210 is at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the Armory.

Membership will be discussed, as well as participation in the upcoming Veteran’s Tribute in November. Anyone interested may join.

TURNER — MSAD 52 Adult & Community Education is offering a free information night for all of prospective Academy of Medical Profession students at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10.

This event will be broadcast through the Tandberg system at the Turner Adult Learning center. This is an opportunity for students to learn about Academy courses and ask any questions that they may have.

Masonic bean supper Sept. 13

DURHAM — A bean supper will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Masonic Lodge, Route 136 across from the Durham River Park.

The prices are $7.50 for adults, $3 children ages 5-12, free for children under 5.

Methodists mark 220th year

MONMOUTH — United Church of Monmouth and East Monmouth on Main Street will hold a service in the Sanctuary at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, in celebration of the 220th anniversary of Methodism in Monmouth and The District of Maine.

EMT Basic certification training

TURNER — MSAD 52 Adult & Community Education & National College of Technical Instruction will offer EMT Basic certification training.

Day classes will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays, Sept. 24 through Dec. 6.

Evening classes will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept. 15 through Jan. 21. The schedule includes one Saturday per month, Sept. 27, Oct. 18, Nov. 15 and Dec. 6.

The 160-hour course fulfills all the training requirements set forth by the State. The EMT Basic course is a hands-on, interactive experience. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to take the National Registry exam.

Fee is $695, with a book fee of $150.
