1926 – 2014
LEWISTON — Robert Murch Flint, 88, of Mechanic Falls, died Monday, Sept. 1, at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Poland on May 18, 1926, a son of Oliver M. and Genevieve Ward Flint. He attended schools in Poland. He faithfully served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II; he served on the USS Guam, receiving six medals and four Bronze Stars. Robert married Marion E. Rollins on May 1, 1954.
He had been employed as a mechanical fabricator at Southworth International in Portland, retiring in 1989. He later worked as a part-time custodian at Poland Community School and at Auburn Manufacturing.
He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post No. 150 in Mechanic Falls. He enjoyed fishing, working on wood lots, stacking wood, family get-togethers and telling stories of the past.
He is survived by his wife of Mechanic Falls; his children, Cynthia Anderson and her husband, Bob, Kerry Flint and his wife, Susan, Kathy Jordan and her husband, James, and Kenneth Flint and his wife, Kathy; grandchildren, Jeremy Flint, Brian Flint, Amanda Flint, Heather Wheeler, Lori Duncombe, Lindsey Flint, Thomas Flint and Mathew Mannette; and great-grandchildren, Ethan Mannette, Colby Flint, Evelyn and Zoa Duncombe.
He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Ed Humphreys; a sister, Carolyn Vigant; and a grandson, Michael Mannette.
