At a recent Town Hall for state legislative candidates, held at Callahan Hall in the Lewiston Public Library, the topic of living wage came up.
The unenrolled candidate opposed the living wage. The Republican candidate did not even show up at the event.
However, Heidi Brooks strongly supported the living wage.
A recent article by the Sun Journal noted that the Lewiston area has the largest inequality in wages. A living wage is a pathway to prosperity, which is what this community needs.
I am voting for the person who has the compassion and who will be an advocate for a living wage — not the unenrolled candidate who opposes it, or the Republican, who was not present at the town meeting.
I will vote for Heidi Brooks for Legislative District 61 (part of Lewiston).
Roland Hachey, Lewiston
