1940 – 2014
LEWISTON — Eldora May (Goding) Collins, 74, a resident of Harmons Corner Road in Auburn, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 4, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center following a brief illness, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Auburn on June 27, 1940, a daughter of Charles and Nellie (Wagg) Goding Sr. She was married to Algernon Collins Jr., who predeceased her.
Eldora attended Edward Little High School and got her GED at the age of 58. She worked for Shapiro Brothers Shoe Co., for 15 years. She then went to work for Fancy Stitchers for 23 years and also worked for many factories at night doing TCF folding and stitching.
She loved making chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting for her grandchildren and Needhams at Christmastime. She loved going to Pleasant Street bingo with her daughter, Judy; son, Tim and his wife, Debbie; along with Aunt Peggy and her friends. She also loved playing cribbage with her grandson, Tyler, and great-grandchildren.
Eldora loved eating out with friends. She loved her many trips to Niagara Falls; Nashville, Tenn.; Branson, Mo.; New Jersey; Pennsylvania; North Carolina and Florida. She also enjoyed many basketball and baseball trips to see her grandsons, Jeff and Tyler, and granddaughter Sara play, as well as time with Charity and Kris.
She is survived by her two sons, Michael Bachelder Costello and wife, Lisa, of Wayne and Timothy Bachelder and wife, Debbie, of Cherryville, N.C.; and one daughter, Judith Libby and husband, Scott, of Auburn. Also surviving are five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Charles Goding Jr. and Kenneth Goding; as well as one sister, Muriel.
