DEXTER — Few details were available early Sunday about how a fire on Charleston Road started, but Dexter Fire Capt. Mike McCormick said that “it’s gone,” when describing the fire ravaged home.

No one was injured in the fire at 515 Charleston Road, the fire captain said. A neighbor called 911 at 2:02 a.m. to report the fire, and crews returned to their station after extinguishing the blaze shortly after 6 a.m., a dispatcher at Penobscot Regional Communications Center said.

Fire Chief Matt Connor, who is in Wilton at a fire chief’s conference, was given an update Sunday morning about the fire by McCormick.

“There were several resources on scene — the fire marshal and Forest Service,” Connor said.

McCormick and Connor said more information would be available later Sunday afternoon.
