LEWISTON —

‘s concert at the Franco Center, canceled in January, has been rescheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27.

“The hall has exquisite acoustics. Every note, even the softest pianissimos, can be heard,” said Gabrielsen in a statement released about his first concert in the Franco Center. He has had several opportunities to rehearse there with his accompanist, Mark Howard.

In the first half of his program, Gabrielsen will perform “Dichterliebe” by Robert Schumann in German, a cyclical song-narrative that is full of emotion.

In the second section, Gabrielsen will sing relatively “new” songs in French by composer Joseph Szulc. After being lost for years, these heartfelt songs were discovered in 2009 in the basement of a conservatory library.

Gabrielsen, a Norway, Maine resident, is a classically trained tenor who studied voice at Southern Methodist University, Sam Houston State University and The University of Arizona. He also has taught music and meditation classes at the Dempsey Center and has been on the faculty of the Yoga Institute in Houston, Texas for five years where he teaches contemplative singing, chanting and meditation.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the Franco Center box office at 46 Cedar St. by calling 207-689-2000 or 207-783-1585 or at www.francocenter.org.

Patrons with tickets from the January show can hold on to them or trade them for the new date in person at the Franco Center box office only, not by phone or online.
