OXFORD — Police said an Otisfield man was charged over the weekend with punching a man in the face at a gas station.

Daniel Davis, 57, was arrested on a misdemeanor assault charge at The Big Apple gas station at 467 Main St. at approximately 7 a.m. Friday, police Chief Jonathan Tibbetts said.

Davis and another man got into a verbal spat at the gas pumps, which escalated into a physical altercation, Tibbetts said. The dispute was over personal matters and Tibbetts declined to elaborate on the nature of the argument.

Officer Zane Loper arrested Davis without incident. He was taken to the Oxford County Jail in Paris, where he was booked and released after posting $500 unsecured bail.

The victim was not arrested and therefore not identified. He suffered minor facial injuries and was not taken to the hospital from the scene, according to Tibbetts.
