NORWAY — H. Lorna Hemingway, 99, of Norway, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Stephens Memorial Hospital, with her loving daughters at her side.

She was born on, April 24, 1915, in Hebron, a daughter of Robie A. Sturtevant and Amy M. Turner. She attended schools in Hebron, Buckfield and South Paris. She graduated from South Paris High School in 1935.

On Jan. 15, 1938, she married Clyde Hemingway and they made their home in Norway.

Lorna worked in various manufacturing facilities in the area including Wilner Wood Products, B.E. Cole Shoe and the Miller Shoe Shop, from where she retired in July 1978.

She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, but her greatest pastime was discovering family history and genealogy. She was a former member of the Hebron Historical Society.

Lorna is survived by her four daughters, Janice Walker and her companion, Donald Munn, of Waterford and Florida, Joyce Kennagh and her husband, Wayne, of South Paris, Joan Hill of North Norway, and Jude Nason of Albany Twp.; six grandchildren, Mary Boothby, Dennis Walker, Patty Whitman, George “Robby” Murch, Penni Cayer and Tim Packard; seven great-grandchildren, Lenza, Ryan, Cory, Erika, Kristopher, Kyle, and Kassi; five great-great-grandchildren, Kayden, Lily, Kyle, Caehyl and Sammy; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father, Robie A. Sturtevant; her mother, Amy (Turner) George; her husband, Clyde, on Jan. 31, 2004; a brother, Franklin Sturtevant; a sister, Clara Bradford; a brother-in-law, Benjamin Bradford; sons-in-law, Barry Hill and Peter Nason.
