AUBURN — Sue Milliken of Auburn passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 10, with her family at her side after a brief illness.

She was born on Sept. 29, 1943, in Hopewell, Va., a daughter of Sadie and Paul Smith. Sue moved to Maine as a young child and was a lifelong resident. She attended Lisbon High School, Class of 1961.

She is survived by her husband, Dana Milliken, with whom she would have celebrated their 54th anniversary later this month. She also leaves behind a son, Dana Milliken Jr. and wife, Catherine, of Massachusetts; and a daughter, Rebecca Hayes and husband, Kenny, of Auburn. She is survived by five grandchildren, Chelsea and Emily Hayes of Auburn and Katie Milliken, Ryan Milliken and Erin Morse and her husband, TJ; and two great-grandchildren, Isabelle Morse and James Slayton, all of Massachusetts. Sue also leaves behind her siblings, Richard Smith, of Harpswell, and sisters, Patty Levasseur of North Anson and Diane McCullough of Bath.

She was predeceased by a brother, Wayne Smith, of Missouri; and a sister, Joyce Warner, of Illinois.

Sue worked for many years as a clerical engineer at New England Telephone and retired from the Portland office in 1994. She was an avid reader and a talented hand-drawing artist, who enjoyed spending time with her family and decorating for the holidays. She was a wonderful wife, mom and grandmom; a kind and caring person who left us behind much too early, and is deeply missed by her loving family and friends.
