I am writing to endorse Rep. Paul Gilbert as an outstanding Maine legislator.

Gilbert and I met in Augusta during National School Counselors Week. He inquired about school counselors. Later, I received a letter thanking me for serving children. He clearly supported school counselors and expressed the importance of educating the mind, body and spirit of students.

Later, I met with Gilbert to ask how ideas became laws. As I shared how my son died by suicide, he saw how valuable it would be if all Maine school employees had suicide awareness training. He worked diligently to craft and promote LD 609, which not only met a critical school need, but also received unanimous bipartisan legislative support and the immediate signature of Gov. Paul LePage.

Paul Gilbert is a true “representative.” I strongly support his return to the Legislature so that he may continue his exceptional work.
