Toys For Tots drive at seniors group

AUBURN — New Auburn Seniors will hold a Toys For Tots drive on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Sacred Heart Church.

Unwrapped toys or monetary donations will be accepted every Wednesday until the first week of November. The drive is sponsored by the Marines. Lucille Dick, a Marine spouse, will be handling the proceeds.

Burnt Meadow DAR to meet Sept. 18

LEWISTON — Burnt Meadow Chapter, National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution of Sabattus, after a planning committee’s meeting, decided to enlist the help of Sandra Swallow, State Regent, Maine Society of Daughters of the Revolution and some of her suite, Cheryl Swift, organizing secretary, and Liz Hotchkiss, vice regent.

Therefore, all members of Burnt Meadow Chapter of Sabattus are requested to come to a brief meeting and an informational session to be held at the Ramada Inn, 490 Pleasant St., from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 11:00 to 1:30 pm in Fusion Restaurant.

We will be in an enclosed space within the restaurant. Meals can be ordered and checks will be separate. This will be the September meeting.

Senior Citizens Cribbage League

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Lewiston Memorial Armory on Sept. 11 were: first, first, Anita Maheux and Dennis Gosselin; second, Dick Dennis and Bob Cielinski; third, Vicki Thayer-Adams and Gerry Therrien; fourth, Jan McCarthy and Nelson Beaudoin; fifth, Monique Nadeau and Dick LaPlante.

Maple Ridge Cemetery meeting

HEBRON — The 2014 annual meeting of the Maple Ridge Cemetery Association of Hebron will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, at 78 Greenwood Mountain Road.

Historical meeting on Ezra Stephens

HEBRON — Local historian Ben Conant will address the Hebron Historical Society on Tuesday, Sept. 23, on the life of Ezra Stephens, the 1800’s “P.T. Barnum of Maine.”

The 7 p.m. meeting will be at the Hebron Town Office, 351 Paris Road. The public is invited.
