WILTON — Police are investigating a burglary at an apartment on Knapp Street that occurred over the weekend.
The empty apartment is being renovated, Wilton officer Derek Daley said. The door was latched and locked and the burglar pulled it off the hinges, he said.
The burglar left cigarettes and other belongings in the apartment, he said. Police are investigating three suspects.
Workers left the apartment about 2 p.m. Friday and returned Monday shortly after 9 a.m. They found glass outside the apartment windows, indicating someone pushed the glass out from inside the apartment, he said.
Windows were smashed, including two recently installed, he said. Some were the old, small-frame type with thin glass.
“They were just destructive,” he said.
