1955 – 2014
Auburn — Dwight N. McAllister, 59, of Lewiston, died early Wednesday morning, Sept. 17, at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn.
He was born on March 25, 1955, in Biddeford, a son of Earl R. and Vivian A. (Moeykens) McAllister. He graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1974.
In his younger years he worked construction in the South and commercial fishing in Alaska. Stories of fishing in the Bering Sea were not uncommon. He loved to embellish his stories which made you wonder where the truth ended and the tale began.
Hunting, fishing and skiing were his favorite pastimes. He will be remembered for his quick wit, as well as having a serious side.
Dwight is survived by his father, Earl R. McAllister; brothers, David and Dean McAllister; sisters, Julie Hebert, Jana Stevens and Jackie Hager; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews that he always spoke fondly of.
He was predeceased by his mother, Vivian McAllister; and sisters, Joan and Janene McAllister.
His family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank-you to all the staff of the local hospitals which helped care for him over the years, especially those at the Androscoggin Hospice House.
