Dinner RSVP deadline is Sept. 26
LEWISTON — The Stanton Bird Club’s first meeting of the new 2014-15 birding season will be on Monday, Oct. 6, at Marco’s restaurant, 12 Mollison Way.
A silent auction benefiting the Jr. Naturalist program and a social hour with club displays will take place from 5 to 6 p,m. A dinner buffet of traditional or vegetable lasagna will be served from 6 to 7. The annual meeting and monthly speaker will begin at 7.
The speaker will be Amanda Shearin, a biologist with the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife. Shearin will discuss the Maine Wildlife Action Plan and how it lays the framework for conservation of the state’s species of greatest conservation need. Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife and its partners are in the process of determining which species are of greatest conservation need and identifying the most effective strategies for conserving these species and their habitats over the next 10 years.
Dinner is $16 per person. Those interested in dinner should RSVP no later than Friday, Sept. 26.
