BIDDEFORD (AP) — The Maine fire marshal’s office says one man is grave condition and other critical after an apartment fire in Biddeford believed to be arson.

Six other people were treated at the hospital and released following the Biddeford fire Thursday morning.

Hospitalized in grave condition at Maine Medical Center is 23-year-old Michael Moore; 21-year-old James Ford is in critical condition. Both were rescued from their third-floor apartment by firefighters.

The fire marshal’s office says the fire was set in the rear stairwell of the building.

The state police are helping with the investigation.
