KITTERY (AP) — Police say a woman from Rhode Island on the way to her summer home in Maine died in a collision on the Maine Turnpike in Kittery when a tractor-trailer crashed through guardrails, crossed a median and hit her SUV head on.

Police told the Portland Press Herald (http://bit.ly/1r6rlO7 ) that 59-year-old Christine Anderson of Smithfield, R.I., was driving north at about 12:30 p.m. Thursday when the southbound truck went of control. Anderson died instantly.

Police say she and her husband own property in Rangeley.

The tractor-trailer driver was identified as 58-year-old Daniel Dunlea of Londonderry, N.H. He was hauling recycled paper products.

Investigators will interview the truck driver and examine the truck for possible mechanical malfunctions.
