1928 – 2014
LEWISTON — Earl J. Meyrick Jr., 86, of Lewiston died Thursday, Sept. 18, at d’Youville Pavilion following a long illness.
He was born in Philadelphia on July 3, 1928, the son of the late Earl J. Sr. and Mary (Snow) Meyrick and had been a seasonal resident of this community for the past eight years.
He had served with the U.S. Army from June 11, 1946, to Aug. 21, 1963, having served in World War II.
Earl was in the first Deaconate class of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe more than 40 years ago. He was very active in his ministry throughout all the various places that he lived in New Mexico, Washington and Maine.
He was a member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus No. 641 of Albuquerque, N.M.
He was an avid volunteer of the zoo, aquarium and the National Forest Service in New Mexico and here locally at the Maine Wildlife Park.
He was a chaplain of Boy Scouts Troop No. 1974.
He is survived by his wife, the former Ceola M. Potts, whom he married on June 28, 1952, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Lewiston; one son, Aaron Meyrick and his wife, Debbie, of McKinney, Texas; three daughters, Franseen Lamarca and her husband Rafael of Marysville, Wash., Lisa Sylvester and her husband, John, of San Antonio, Texas, and Sara Deshaies and her husband, Scott, of Lewiston; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Meyrick.
