1931 – 2014

LEWISTON — Robert G. “Bob” Roy, 83, of Durham passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 16, at CMMC with his family by his side.

He was born in Lewiston on June 14, 1931, the son of Alphonsine and Ludger Roy.

He was a hard worker and was known to be as tough as nails. He was proud of where he came from and the life he made. He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division and worked several jobs in his life, including Morin Brick Co., Original Pizza, Country Kitchen Bakery, as well as owning and operating several restaurants, including Double R Pizza of Freeport, Portland and Auburn and Bob & Nan’s Lunch of Lisbon Falls.

He married his wife, Nancy Thomas (Roy) of Lewiston, on June 27, 1959. They were married for 55 years. He enjoyed camping with his grandchildren. He loved his family and was especially proud of his two sons, Jeff and Rick Roy. He enjoyed working beside them for more than 30 years at the family-owned car dealership, R&R Auto Sales.

He was predeceased by his mother and father; his brother, Lucien Roy; and sisters, Laurianne Simard, Liane Thurlow and Doris Mank.

Bob is survived by his wife, Nancy (Thomas) Roy; his sons, Jeffrey Roy and girlfriend, Rebecka Campbell, and Ricky Roy; his grandchildren, Derek Roy and fiancee, Kaylee Ellis, Lindsey Atwood and husband, Matthew, Heather Bichrest and husband, Derek, Erica Roy and Jaxson Roy; and great-grandchildren, Tanner Melanson, Natalie Bichrest, Julia Bichrest, Maizy Atwood, Brody Roy and Zoey Atwood.

The Roy family would like to thank the staff at CMMC for the comfort and care they gave Bob and his family.
