BETHEL — Philip Shepherd, author of the groundbreaking book, “New Self, New World,” will come to Bethel on the weekend of Sept. 26-27 for two major events. He will be giving a talk on Friday evening, and a workshop on Saturday and Sunday.
Shepherd has gained worldwide recognition for his work. It explains that there are unseen assumptions we live by that shape our lives, and often leave us feeling disconnected and anxious, as though we were living by half-truths. He shows how those assumptions live in our bodies and compromise our natural intelligence. In the workshop, he takes participants through a series of gentle experiences that awaken the body’s integrative genius, and allows them to relax into it.
He is a faculty member of Esalen, and will be teaching a five-day workshop there this fall. He is also committed to teaching others how to share this work, and in the spring will run a teachers’ training course in his method, which is called The Embodied Present Process.
Philips’ talk will be given from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at 18 High St. Suggested donation at the door is $10.
His workshop, Radical Wholeness, runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, at 18 High St. Registration is $300, and can be done at philipshepherd.com or by getting in touch with Janet Willie at [email protected].
