TOGUS — James G. Chandonnet, 67, a resident of Webster Street in Lewiston, died Friday, Sept. 19, at the VA Hospice, with his loving family by his side following a long illness.

He was born in Lewiston on Oct. 24, 1946, a son of Ernest and Margaret (Clabby) Chandonnet Sr.

Jimmie was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, and was known as a great craftsman of leather goods and jewelry. He was also well known as a local baker and cook.

Survivors include three brothers, Dan Chandonnet and wife, Carol, of Lewiston and Patrick Chandonnet and wife, Alice, as well as Ernest Chandonnet Jr., all of Texas; and four sisters, Mary Ellen Couillard and husband, Leroy, of Sabattus, Eileen Chandonnet of Lewiston, Rosemary Freve and husband, Richard, of Lisbon and Susan Chandonnet of Lewiston. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Anthony, Michael and Thomas; as well as one sister, Sheila Brown.
