1944 – 2014
HARRISON — Everett Albert Wakefield, 70, died unexpectedly at his home in Harrison on Monday, Sept. 22.
He was born on July 10, 1944, to Arthur G. Sr. and Elizabeth Adams Wakefield of Harrison. For many years, until its closing, Everett worked alongside his family at Wakefield & Sons lumber mill on Deertrees Road in Harrison.
He was a man of few words and quiet strength, and though seemed serious, he did enjoy a good laugh! He was hard-working, even until the time of his death.
Everett was an active member of the Lions Club and Western Maine Fish and Game. He loved collecting guns and participated in shooting competitions. He also had taught gun safety classes. He enjoyed the outdoors and doing things with his constant companion, his dog, Sadie.
Everett was originally part owner of Reliable Rubbish, servicing the Harrison and Bridgton areas. After his retirement, he continued to work part time for the new owners.
He also enjoyed spending time in Georgia visiting with his sister and her family. He also hosted the Wakefield family reunion at his home.
Everett is survived by his sister, Ann Smith, of Canton, Ga.; a brother, Arthur G. Wakefield Jr. and his wife, Linda, of South Paris; a brother, Keith E. Wakefield and his wife, Terri, of Norway; a sister-in-law, Linda Wakefield Twitchell, of Harrison; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Bernard Wakefield and Rodney Wakefield, all of Harrison.
