1937 – 2014

AUBURN — Raynold J. Plourde, 76, of Western Promenade in Auburn, died Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, with his family by his side.

Born in Fort Kent on Oct. 31, 1937, a son of the late Dennis and Marie Cyr Plourde, he was educated in Auburn schools. He was lovingly raised by his foster parents, George and Annette Desmarais.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1958, and in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1975 to 1979. Raynold was married to the former Constance P. Sasseville on Sept. 1, 1962; she died on Aug. 18.

He was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and worked at the General Electric plant, until his retirement in 1999.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, his family, his cat, Sweetie, and his beloved Boston Bruins.

Our dad will be remembered for his generosity and kindness, and for being an amazing father and husband.

Raynold is survived by two daughters, Christine Plourde-Rand and husband, Aaron, of Auburn and Lisa Mathieu of Auburn; his son, Shawn Plourde, of New York, N.Y.; grandchildren, Abbie, Molly and Nevin Rand; brothers and sisters, Priscilla Smith of Florida, Harold Plourde and wife, Debra, of Lisbon Falls and Carlton Plourde and Robert Plourde, both of Lewiston; foster sister, Terry Moore; and sisters-in-law, Claudette Verville and Constance Albert.

He was also predeceased by his sister, Cora Donahue; and brothers, Roger, Richard and H. Rodrigue Plourde.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff at the Hospice House and Central Maine Medical Center’s T-3 department for the exceptional care and support they provided to our family.
