1946 – 2014

DURHAM — David L. Edwards, 68, of Durham, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, at his home.

He was born in St. Louis, Mo., on Aug. 13, 1946, a son of Carl and Doris Edwards.

He married his wife, Irene G. LaPlante, on June 7, 1969, and was the loving father of Daniel C. Edwards of Newmarket, N.H.

David retired from the U.S. Navy after 26 years. He later retired from L.L. Bean. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was also a big sports fan, particularly baseball.

David is survived by his son, Daniel and his significant other, Becky LaPense. He is also survived by his brothers, John and wife, Doris Edwards, of St. Louis, Mo., Michael and wife, Barbie, of St. Louis, Mo., and Peter and wife, Barbara, of St. Louis, Mo.; and a sister, Kathleen Blomgren and husband, Lynne, of John’s Island, S.C.

He was predeceased by his parents and wife, Irene.
