LIVERMORE — Two people were killed and another was injured in a noontime car accident Saturday on Route 4.
Two vehicles — a minivan and an SUV — collided head-on, Lt. Glenn Holt of the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department said.
The crash was reported at 12:07 p.m. near 1273 Federal Road (Route 4) in Livermore. A roughly mile-long stretch of the road was closed from Boothby Road to Norton Road.
It was expected to remain closed until at least 5 p.m, Holt said.
The crash seemed to have occurred when one of the vehicles swerved into the oncoming lane, he said.
A LifeFlight helicopter was called in to transport one of the crash victims to the hospital. The survivor appeared to have non-life-threatening injuries, Holt said.
