The Orono Fire Department will hold its annual open house on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 9 a.m.-noon. This event will kick off Fire Prevention Week, where the message is Working Smoke Alarms Save Lives.
There are several activities planned for the day that will allow participants to to have fun while learning how to make your homes safer at the same time, including a smoke trailer; Sparky the Fire Dog; 911 phone; smoke detector info; popcorn and hot hogs; a bike rodeo by the police department; the American Red Cross; a ladder truck demo; a rope rescue demonstration; DEEMI Search and Rescue; and prizes and giveaways.
