LEWISTON — Presentation by Passamaquoddy tribe members Denise Altvater and Esther Attean on the history of Maine Wabanaki-State Child Welfare Truth and Reconciliation Commission. It was created to address harm done to native children taken from their families by the state and forced to assimilate. At 7:30 p.m., Olin building, 75 Russell St. Introduced by artist Robert Shetterly, creator of national acclaimed series, “Americans Who Tell the Truth.”

THURSDAY

LEWISTON — Great Falls Forum, multimedia talk by Grammy-nominated conductor and Bates alumnus Andrew Cyr, who will talk about his journey in music from childhood in Fort Kent to award-winning orchestra. Noon to 1 p.m., Callahan Hall, Lewiston Public Library, free. Attendees invited to bring lunch.

SATURDAY

LEWISTON — Blessing of the Animals, 2 p.m., front lawn of Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul at Ash and Bartlett streets. The blessing recognizes the important place pets hold in people’s hearts, and remembers Saint Francis of Assisi, who was known for his love of all God’s creatures. Rain location: lower lobby of the basilica.

SUNDAY

LEWISTON — Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul will host a New England Festival of Thanksgiving celebrating the 10th anniversary of the basilica status of the church, 6 p.m. at the basilica. Music by the basilica’s adult choir, hand bell and children’s choir, and The Mark Thallander Foundation, a national organization with more than 100 voices from its festival adult choir.
