(Photo Caption) AUBURN YOUTH WINS 4-H AWARD — Alonzo Sherman, son of Mrs. Marion Sherman of the North River Road, Auburn, was recently named the winner of this Grand Champion Showman award at the Eastern States Exposition at Springfield. Mass. He competed with 120 4-H club members in the fitting and showing competition at the exposition. Sherman is a nine-year member of the Pitch-In 4-H Club of Auburn and the Willing Dairy Workers 4-H Club of Turner.

(Photo Caption) Joey Gamache follows through with his right as he and “Irish” Richie Foster mix it up inside Thursday night before about 5,000 fans at the Central Maine Youth Center in Lewiston. Gamache scored a one-sided, unanimous decision over the veteran Foster. The Lewiston junior lightweight remains undefeated at 17-0.
