“Love and loss and the dynamic tension found between the two” are reoccurring themes in Russell’s work, illustrated by images as symbols and text as they constantly emerge and disappear through multiple layers of paint. Her work is extremely personal as she hints at a more deeply emotional self.
Russell received her MFA and BFA in painting from Boston University. She currently lives in South Berwick and teaches art at Berwick Academy. Solo and group exhibition participation includes many venues.
Russell’s work can be seen Monday through Friday from noon-5 p.m. and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Gallery 302, at 112 Main St., is an artist cooperative with over 50 artists exhibiting work in oils, watercolors, linocuts, wood, fiber, clay, jewelry, and more exotic materials.
