1936 – 2014

AUBURN — Barbara Pontbriand, 78, formerly of 43 Nichols St., Lewiston, died Monday, Sept. 29, at the Hospice House of Auburn.

She was born in Lewiston on May 29, 1936, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Miller Ashmer. She attended Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1954 and the Auburn School of Commerce.

She was married to Norman H. Pontbriand on Oct. 19, 1957, and he predeceased her on May 17, 1995.

Barbara was employed by the Lewiston Gas Co., P&P Fuel and later by the Dominican Fathers.

She was a member of the former St. Joseph’s Church and enjoyed crafts and making people happy.

She is survived by a daughter, Anne Pontbriand of Lewiston; two sons, Marc Pontbriand and wife, Melinda, of Lewiston and Michael Pontbriand and wife, Trudy, of Sabattus; and three grandchildren, Shayla, Victoria and Michaela.
