JAY — A Skowhegan woman faces charges after her car side-swiped a Jeep on Monday on Route 133.
Jay Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier arrested Sasha Bradford, 23, on misdemeanor charges of operating after suspension and driving to endanger, acting police Chief Richard Caton IV said Wednesday.
He also issued her a summons on a civil violation of texting while operating a vehicle, he said. The violation carries a $310 fine.
Bradford was driving north on Route 133 toward Farmington when her 2003 Impala crossed the center line into the southbound lane and side-swiped the rear of a 2003 Grand Cherokee driven by Michele Bachelder, 46, of Farmington at approximately 11 a.m., he said.
The front of Bradford’s car hit the rear of Bachelder’s driver’s side, according to Fournier’s report.
No one was injured.
Bradford told Fournier that she had been punching in a phone number on her cellphone, Caton said.
She was taken to the Franklin County jail in Farmington. She was released Monday on $1,000 unsecured bail.
Bradford is scheduled to appear in a Farmington court on Nov. 25.
