LEWISTON — The Androscoggin Adult Literacy Resource Fair will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at Lewiston Public Library, upstairs in Callahan Hall.

Learn about resources to help with reading, writing, computer literacy, financial literacy and health literacy.

Participants will learn more about the work being done to help people become “work ready.” Literacy is critical to job search today; many people, regardless of age and background, lack the basic skills they need for successful jobs and the job application process. Service providers will learn about the variety of resources available in our community so they can refer clients to those resources.

To be functionally literate, adults need to be able to read, write, use the computer, access information, interpret text, numbers and graphics, and make informed decisions.

The information-sharing event is designed for case managers, advisers and those referring adults to literacy resources in the greater Lewiston-Auburn area.

Find out about changes and additions to programs and services, names and numbers of who to contact, and how to make a success referral so clients can access needed programs and services.

Sandwiches, snacks and beverages will be available.

Parking is available at the garage on the corner of Park and Oak streets as well as the garage on the corner of Ash and Canal streets. Parking validation is available through the library. There is also free parking above Kennedy Park, in front of the library on Lisbon Street and behind the library on Park Street.
