CUSHING — Police raided a house at 18 Cross Road searching for heroin and found what they were looking for, leading to the arrests of two residents, a Rockland man and two men from New York state who brought the drugs to Maine, police officials say.
“The search warrant was executed after agents conducted an investigation into the distribution of heroin from the residence,” the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency posted on their Facebook page.
The investigation shows that “Anthony Langille and Christine Hunt, who live at the Cross Road residence, distributed heroin as well as provided a location for their source of supply for heroin to reside,” the MDEA post states. “Daeshawn McDonald and Daniel Williams transported large quantities of heroin from New York; the heroin was then repackaged for sale and distributed throughout the midcoast region by the group.”
Police found over 40 grams of heroin, packaging materials and approximately $10,000 in suspected drug proceeds, the post states. The approximate street value of the seized heroin is $15,000.
McDonald, 24, of the Bronx, N.Y., and Williams, 23, of Manhattan, N.Y., were both charged with aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs, for the heroin, which is a Class A felony, and trafficking in prison contraband. Bail for both was set at $75,000 cash.
Langille, 46, of Cushing was charged with aggravated trafficking in Schedule W drugs, for the heroin, which is a Class A felony, and his bail was set at $5,000 cash.
Christine Hunt, 36, of Cushing was charged with trafficking in Schedule W drugs, for the heroin, which is a Class B felony, and her bail was set at $1,500 cash unsecured.
Jacob Ortiz, 20, of Rockland, was charged with possession of a scheduled drug for Suboxone found on him. His bail was set at $150.
The execution of the search warrant took place at 2 p.m. Friday and officers from the Thomaston and Rockland Police Departments as well as the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the MDEA Mid Coast unit, which serves Knox, Waldo, Lincoln and Sagadahoc Counties, assisted.
The five arrested were taken to Knox County Jail. The additional charges of trafficking in prison contraband were added after jail officials found McDonald and Williams concealing additional heroin within a body cavity.
