SUMNER — The Congregational Church of East Sumner, at 50 Main St., will have a variety of weekend community events in October.

Proceeds for all events benefit the mission work of the church, which includes supporting children in Haiti and Africa, the Sumner Food Bank, college scholarships for Buckfield High seniors, camp scholarships for church youth, and many local and world missions.

On Saturday, Oct. 11, the church will have a pie sale at the Masonic Hall in Buckfield, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Proceeds will benefit sponsored children in Africa and Haiti. The sale is in conjunction with the Zadoc Long Free Library annual book sale.

That evening, at 5:30 p.m., the church will have its annual Game and Garden Community Supper with salads, breads and pie. The monthly raffle will take place following the meal. A donation is requested for the meal.

On Sunday, Oct. 26, there will be a Christmas banner and decorations workshop in the vestry, at 10:30 a.m. during Coffee Hour and Fellowship. Making Chrismons and Bible prayer angels will be demonstrated.
