FARMINGTON — A Dixfield woman, who had two young children with her Saturday at Wal-Mart, is accused of trying to steal nearly $150 worth of items from the store.
Farmington police officer Ryan Wagner arrested Cassandra Quinn, 34, on a misdemeanor charge of theft, police secretary Rachel Heseltine said Monday.
Store security personnel detained Quinn after she was seen paying for some items but not paying for merchandise hidden in a reusable shopping bag. The latter amounted to $149.92, she said.
Wagner was at the store to get paperwork from a previous theft complaint.
The children were upset about the situation, and Wagner took them to Dunkin’ Donuts in the store while their mother waited for a family member to pick them up, Heseltine said.
Quinn has been given a trespass warning, prohibiting her from entering any Wal-Mart or Sam’s Club. She could face additional charges if she violates the order.
Quinn was released on $1,000 unsecured bail from the Franklin County jail on Saturday. She is scheduled to appear in a Farmington court on Nov. 4.
