WOODSTOCK — The Woodstock and Greenwood Fire Departments are celebrating Fire Safety and Awareness Week by hosting their fourth annual Parade of Lights at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11.
Missy Wakefield, a firefighter and EMS first responder with the Woodstock Fire Department, said the parade of firetrucks and other vehicles will begin at the Woodstock ball field, go down Main Street and end at the Fire Station.
Free refreshments will be provided after the parade, including hand-cut french fries and dough boys from the Greenwood Fire Department, chili, hot dogs, popcorn, beverages and desserts.
“All EMS apparatus participating in the parade will qualify to win trophy awards for various categories,” Wakefield said.
The Parade of Lights started in 2011, after a Woodstock firefighter who previously worked with a fire department in New Hampshire mentioned the New Hampshire department held a similar parade.
