Remembering the splendid manner in which the Lewiston Journal had bulletined the world’s series in the past three years, the fans of Lewiston and Auburn were early at the head of Lisbon street, Friday, to get the best position to watch the returns as this paper gave them to them. This year the bulletin is in a much better position that ever before. It is directly in front of the building and at the height of the second floor. The board itself is larger by nearly double. A direct telegraph wire leads from Shibe Park, Philadelphia, to the Journal office. The expert operator takes the messages as they come, play by play, calling them aloud and they are transmitted to the bulletin board men by a special telephone wire from the telegraph room in the editorial department of the paper. These bulletins are written out on the blackboard, where all can read.
50 years ago, 1964
On the heels of the announcement that vice-presidential candidate Hubert Humphrey would visit the Twin Cities Tuesday, the work of ironing out arrangements proceeded hastily today. The Minnesota senator will speak at Kennedy Park and Mrs. Humphrey is expected to accompany her husband on his visit to the Pine Tree State. Secret Service personnel and local public safety officials met at Kennedy Park today.

Auburn Planning Board members tonight will review a final subdivision plan for Auburn Plaza shopping center, whose developers want to lease one lot and sell a second while retaining a third parcel for the retail center. The request includes deeding a 5,340-square-foot section of Turner Street land to the city for a turning lane onto Stetson Road. The shopping center planned for the site is a 310,000-square-foot complex expected to house four major tenants. One of the three lots will be sold to a retailer, while a second will be leased for an eight-screen cinema complex.
