LEWISTON — Prosecutors say a Lewiston man charged with running down and killing his pregnant girlfriend will be arraigned Oct. 15.
Evaristo De Deus is being held without bail and is charged with murder. His girlfriend Laudrinha Kubeloso was four months pregnant when she was struck and killed by an SUV. He later tried to flee to Haiti.
Justice MaryGay Kennedy will hear the case. His attorney says De Deus will enter a plea of not guilty.
De Deus and Kubeloso were recent asylum seekers from Angola. A judge ordered De Deus held without bail during a brief appearance in an Androscoggin County court on Sept. 26.
