SMH offers hormonal health wellness class

NORWAY — Join doctors and staff from Western Maine OB/GYN for a lively discussion on how a woman’s body changes and how this affects overall health and well-being. This session will allow women to interact and ask questions. It will also address the risks for breast cancer, osteoporosis and heart disease.

Hormonal Health Wellness (How Your Body is Changing) will be held, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, in the Harper Conference Center 193 Main St. There is no cost.

West Paris food pantry open Oct. 21

WEST PARIS — The Neighborhood Niche Food Pantry will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at West Paris Baptist Church, 15 Church St. The pantry is open the first and third Tuesdays of each month and West Paris residents are invited to come once a month.

Making baskets in Harrison

HARRISON — A basket-making craft and turkey dinner will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2. Dinner will follow.

A door prize, raffles and 50/50 will be held.

Cost for dinner only is $10; dinner and basket, $25.

Proceeds will benefit Lakeside and Franklin Granges.

Paris to host Halloween party

PARIS — Children and adults are invited to celebrate Halloween at the Paris Public Library from noon to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25. Costumes are optional.

There will be games, crafts, stories and candy in the children’s room.

Texas Hold’em tourney in Locke Mills

LOCKE MILLS — A Texas Hold’em Tournament, hosted by Jackson-Silver Post #68, will be held on Sunday, Oct. 26, at the Legion Post home at 595 Gore Road.

Doors open at noon; game starts at 1 p.m. Entry fee is $50 with a $5 license. All proceeds will benefit veterans programs and Legion Baseball.

There will be food and refreshments. BYOB.

Halloween party in Otisfield Oct. 26

OTISFIELD — The town will hold its annual Halloween Party for the children of Otisfield at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26, at the Otisfield Community Hall on Route 121. There will be craft activities and light refreshments, and a costume contest being judged in five categories. All children attending must be accompanied by a chaperone.

Talk about health care communication

NORWAY — Join Dr. William Medd and Pastor David Thorp as they discuss ways to improve communication about health care with your provider. The two will also explore ways to talk comfortably with family and friends.

The class, titled “Communication: Ways to Improve Talking with Your Family and Healthcare Providers,” will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 27, in the Harper Conference Center, 193 Main St.

Family Literacy Night in Paris

PARIS — The Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School Library and Oxford Hills/Buckfield Adult Ed Program will hold a Family Literacy Night for Adult Ed students and their young children, as well as SAD 17 students in pre-K to first grade and their families, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 27, at OHCHS.

The event will feature stories, games, and snacks for the kids and information for parents about extending literacy and reading from the classroom into the home. Information about children’s programs at local libraries will also be provided.

Bridge Night in Waterford starts new season

WATERFORD — All interested bridge players are welcome to come to the first bridge night of the season at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 27, at the Waterford Library.

Come with or without a partner and have some fun playing casual bridge with others who simply enjoy the game. Some basic knowledge of the game is preferred, but playing tips and general banter does fly around and you can learn a lot.
