No more enthusiastic spectators were in the crowd which witnessed the Bates-Maine game in Lewiston, Saturday, than the twenty-five boys from Opportunity Farm, who were led by the superintendent, F. Forrest Pease. The boys were up with the sun, Saturday morning, and hiked the twelve miles from New Gloucester to Lewiston reaching town along about noon. After the game they were to return in the two big potato wagons, which had brought ninny barrels of potatoes to market in the morning.

Lewiston Recreation Department Senior Citizen group activities are growing constantly, as is the number of persons participating. Reservations are currently being taken for the group’s “Telstar Trip” which will take participants through the scenic Belgrade, Sugarloaf and Rangeley regions and to the Telstar installation at Andover. Those interested in participating have been urged to contact the department office at the Lewiston Armory by Monday afternoon.

About a dozen irate citizens met with the Livermore Falls Board of Selectmen and Town Manager Maxine Bailey for over an hour Monday night expressing their dissatisfaction with the recent revaluation, the huge increases in their valuations and tax bills and the attitude of the professional assessor. Some of the taxpayers had not yet had their appointments with the assessor and stated they only wanted to learn about the process while others, who had met with him, commented unfavorably on his lack of compassion and his cavalier attitude. One citizen questioned why the board had accepted the assessment before the assessor had interviews with the taxpayers. The estimated valuation and complaint process had been used when the town was revalued 11 years ago but the selectmen agreed to skip that step this year due to time constraints.
