GREENE — The Universalist Church of Greene is announcing a name change to The Greene Christian Community Church.

This new name is to let people know what the church is all about. “We are a Christian church worshipping Jesus and preaching the cross,” said Pastor Edmond Wurpel, pastor of the church.

Because of the church’s long history in the village of Greene, started in 1836, the official name will remain, but it will be DWA (doing worship as) The Greene Christian Community Church.

“We want everyone to know what we are all about,” said church president Gladys Smith. The church is open to everyone who wants to learn and get to know Jesus Christ.

Greene Christian Community Church will serve free meals the last Sunday of the month. Meals will be served immediately after morning worship. The church’s doors are open to all for prayer, teaching, music, fellowship, all in the name of the Lord.

Call 293-3100 to speak with the pastor. The church is at 398 Route 202.
