Several Red Sox alumni, including Dennis “Oil Can” Boyd (from the historic 1986 World Series team) and “Big” Sam Horn, will be here on Nov. 15 for a benefit basketball game, with proceeds benefitting Mexico Police Explorers Post 364.
Other names could include Bill “Spaceman” Lee or Jim Corsi, according to the website for East Coast Marketing Group (ECMG), which is making the event possible. Mexico Police Chief Roy Hodsdon added that another name is a possiblity, that of Luis “El Tiante” Tiant, who has participated in such events in the past.
The 7 p.m. event will take place in the Puiia Gymnasium at Mtn. Valley High School. The Red Sox alumni will take on the Mexico Explorer All-Star Team. Hodsdon said the local team will include police officers and guests. In addition to the game, there will be an opportunity for autographs and photos after.
Hodsdon added that people will also be able to get tickets through the Mexico Police Department on Recreation Drive. They can also message the department through the Mexico Police Department on Facebook, or call 364-5686.
