I am writing in support of John Patrick, a lifelong resident of the River Valley area. He is up for re-election to the Maine Senate.

He has worked in the Rumford paper mill for 34 years. He married here in Rumford and raised his children here in Rumford. He has proudly served 12 years in Augusta fighting for his constituents. His support of senior citizens, veterans, education and working men and women is second to none. He is one of the most dedicated, honest and hardworking public servants I have ever met.

His opponent, Joe Martin, has been a Republican since June 23, 2014. In all the 57 years that I have voted, this is the first time I have ever seen a Republican Party town chairperson write a letter to the editor supporting the Democratic candidate.

I wonder why?

My vote will be to re-elect Rumford’s Sen. John Patrick.
