As a former selectman and community leader in Poland, I will be voting to re-elect John Cleveland as my state senator.
Cleveland has a distinguished record of public service, including serving as the mayor of Auburn and as a state senator in the 1990s, as well as a senator from 2012 to the present.
He is well respected by his colleagues in the Senate (Democrats and Republicans) because of his thoughtful approach to issues that affect Maine citizens and his ability to work in a bipartisan manner to get results. He has sponsored and passed several historic pieces of legislation during his service in Augusta.
As a businessman, he has also done an extraordinary job for the town of Poland, leading the effort to build new critical infrastructure for the town, attracting new businesses to the community and saving Poland taxpayers more than $1.5 million in costs.
