Moving Thru New! Mondays

HARRISON — For over a decade, a group met at The Ballroom on Monday evenings to share in an expressive dance practice they called Moving Thru. The practice is based on the teachings and work of Gabrielle Roth.

Roth created the 5Rhythms approach to expressive movement in the 1970s. Today, hundreds of groups and teachers all over the world use her approach in their work.

Moving Thru New! is beginning again on Monday, Nov. 3 and will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. every Monday at The Ballroom.

Lisa Moore of Harrison said, “Our intention is to revitalize this activity in a weekly practice during the dark time of the year. We’ll begin when Daylight Savings Time ends and continue until it begins again in March.”

The first 45 minutes (5:30 to 6:15) will be a warm-up with music. From 6:15 until 7, attendees will move through the 5Rhythms to music that has been arranged to reflect them. The five rhythms are flow, staccato, chaos, lyrical, and stillness. Learn more about this practice at www.5rhythms.com.
